Coaches are Cosburn’s ambassadors, often the first point of contact for new members. The Coaching Chair leads the club coaching team, guiding instruction for prospective, new, and returning members, and organizes member development clinics, coach training, and competitive bowler instruction (though the Chair may not always lead these sessions directly).

Working closely with the Membership Chair, the Coaching Chair convenes the Rating Committee, which assigns draw card colours to members. Before and during the season, the Chair inspects and evaluates all game equipment—including rakes, bowls, slings, and assistive devices—to ensure everything is in proper working order.

The Communications Chair manages all of Cosburn Park’s communications, reaching members, the public, and the media through the website, social media, email, and print materials. This role requires some web skills, including familiarity with platforms such as WordPress and Brevo.

The Communications Chair works closely with the Executive, Special Events Chair, Tournament Chair, and other volunteers to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging communication that keeps members informed and promotes the club to the wider community. By sharing news, events, and achievements, the Communications Chair helps strengthen Cosburn Park’s profile and connection with both members and the public.

The Games Chair plans and coordinates the Club’s recreational games program, ensuring members have enjoyable, well-organized opportunities to bowl throughout the season. Working with a team of volunteer convenors, the Chair schedules the season's weekly jitneys, recruits and supports Drawmasters, and coordinates games on statutory holidays and other special club events.

The Games Chair also organizes all in-club tournaments and competitions, and coordinates the Club’s participation in the annual East York Challenge. Well-run games are at the heart of member engagement and are one of the most important ways the Club encourages participation, friendship, and enjoyment of the sport.

The Membership Chair at Cosburn Park plays a vital role in growing the club and fostering a welcoming, vibrant community. This position oversees all membership activities, including processing applications, maintaining the club’s and the Ontario Lawn Bowls Association (OLBA) membership databases, maintaining the club roster and draw card wall, issuing name tags, and coordinating fee collection with the Treasurer.

Working closely with the Coaching Chair, the Membership Chair ensures a smooth onboarding for new members and collaborates with the Rating Committee on draw card colour assignments. Supported by the Board, the Chair leads recruitment strategies to attract new members and helps organize promotional events. By helping members feel connected and supported, the Membership Chair ensures Cosburn remains a club people are proud to join—and stay.

Along with a vibrant membership, well-maintained greens are central to Cosburn Park’s success. Excellent greens help attract new members, keep current members engaged, and support the club’s many well-attended tournaments and events.

The Premises Chair’s primary responsibility is maintaining the playability of our greens, and they also help keep the club’s grounds, facilities, and equipment in top condition. The Chair coordinates greens care with our mowing contractor, the City of Toronto Golf Course Team, and a team of member volunteers. A key part of the role is recruiting, organizing, and leading volunteers who manage the irrigation system, repair damaged turf, operate the greens roller, rotate the rink markers, weed ditches, and maintain the equipment, sheds and gardens. The Premises Chair also works closely with the Tournaments, Games, and Special Events Chairs to ensure the greens are properly cut, rolled, and set up for all club events. At the end of the season, they coordinate the annual maintenance and winter storage of our equipment.

By helping keep Cosburn Park’s greens in excellent playing condition, the Premises Chair makes an important contribution to member satisfaction and retention. Quality greens make the sport more enjoyable and help reinforce Cosburn Park’s reputation as a welcoming club where members enjoy playing and want to return.

The Social Chair is the heart of Cosburn’s hospitality, managing all of the club’s catering operations. They recruit, schedule, and lead volunteers for the kitchen and event set-up at tournaments, general meetings, holiday celebrations, and other special events.

Responsibilities include arranging refreshments, purchasing food and supplies, and coordinating volunteers for set-up, service, and clean-up as needed. The Social Chair also oversees the drink fridge and manages any fundraising draws held during tournaments or club events.

By ensuring great food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere, the Social Chair helps make every gathering at Cosburn memorable.

The Special Events Chair designs and delivers in-club events that go beyond regular bowling activities, fostering member engagement and building club spirit. From making new members feel welcome to organizing holiday and other special events, this role helps ensure Cosburn is more than just a place to play bowls—it’s a vibrant community.

Working closely with fellow volunteers—including the Social Chair, Communications Chair, and Coaching Chair—the Special Events Chair brings people together, strengthens connections, and makes the club a place members are proud to belong to.

The Sponsorship & Development Chair leads Cosburn’s efforts to build and sustain financial support from the community. This role manages our sponsorship program, solicits donations from local businesses, and may assist the Executive in securing additional revenue through government or other grants.

Sponsorship doesn’t just bring in funds—it also raises Cosburn’s profile and strengthens our ties within the community. The Sponsorship & Development Chair works closely with the Board to maintain strong relationships with current sponsors while actively seeking new opportunities to grow our network and financial support.

The Tournaments Chair leads the planning and delivery of the Club's competitive tournament program, helping keep the club’s competitive spirit thriving and engaging members of all skill levels. The Chair recruits and supports Tournament Drawmasters and other volunteers, oversees tournament registration, draws, scoring, and prize presentations, and ensures tournaments are well organized from start to finish.

Working closely with the Communications, Premises, Social, and Sponsorship Chairs, the Tournaments Chair coordinates the many volunteers and resources needed to deliver successful events. The Chair also appoints Club representatives to district and Ontario Lawn Bowls Association (OLBA) tournament meetings and helps keep members informed about competitive bowling opportunities throughout the season.
