Sophie’s Sports Bar & Grill, just two blocks west of the club at the corner of Cosburn Avenue and Linsmore Crescent, has sponsored our spring Mixed Pairs Tournament for over a decade. George Starfas (Mr. Sophie) is a regular on the greens to cheer on the bowlers at the start of the first game. In turn, Sophie’s is a popular watering hole for Cosburn bowlers. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights will find many of us on Sophie’s patio rehashing our game over a pint or a glass of vino, planning what colour shirts to wear in the next tournament, or watching sporting events on Sophie’s large screens.

After a few visits, you’ll be a regular at Sophie’s. George will greet you warmly, Sophie will call you “darling,” and Tom will bring your favourite drink. Whether you need a snack or a hearty meal, the kitchen offers home-style cooking at a reasonable price. As we often say at the club, “See you at Sophie’s!”
